The ATLs Club is looking for two Year 12 students to help run a weekly peer-support session for younger students, particularly Year 11 students preparing for eAssessments and the transition to the DP. This will happen on Tuesdays during Registration (8:30-8:45).
Commitment: Weekly during term time
Supervision: ATLs Coordinator, Patrícia Infante da Câmara
Student mentors will work alongside the ATLs Coordinator and support students in developing practical Approaches to Learning skills, particularly self-management, organisation, and effective study habits.
What will you be asked to do?
- Help students organise their workload, deadlines and revision.
- Share practical study and revision strategies that have worked for you.
- Help students break larger tasks into manageable steps and set realistic goals.
- Support students with time management, planning and preparation for eAssessments.
- Share your experience of the transition from MYP to DP and help younger students prepare for it.
- Encourage students to reflect on what is and is not working in their approach to learning.
- Help create a welcoming, informal space where students feel comfortable asking for support.
This is not subject tutoring and you are not expected to teach academic content. The emphasis is on helping younger students become more independent, organised and confident learners.
We are looking for students who are reliable, approachable and patient; well organised themselves; willing to listen rather than simply tell others what to do; and interested in supporting younger students.
The time commitment is small but regular: 15 minutes every Tuesday during Registration. The ATLs Coordinator will be present and will provide guidance and support throughout.
If you are interested in peer mentoring, education and service within the school community, This will be a good opportunity for you to help others while developing your own communication, leadership and collaboration skills.
If you are interested, contact Ms. Câmara.
