This CAS activity gives students the opportunity to explore different careers and professional fields while developing their own communication, organisation, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Students involved in the activity will organise one lunchtime session per month, inviting a professional working in a field that they or other students may be interested in exploring. The sessions will be open to Year 10 to Year 13 students, who can attend voluntarily to hear about the professional’s career journey, learn more about their field of work, and ask questions.
Under the supervision and approval of the Head of Student Futures, the student organisers will be responsible for identifying potential speakers, contacting and inviting them, agreeing on the focus and format of the session, and coordinating the practical arrangements. They will also promote the event within the school, encourage students to attend, introduce the guest speaker, moderate the conversation and Q&A, and thank the speaker afterwards.
Rather than simply attending career talks, you will take an active role in creating opportunities for your peers to learn directly from professionals. Through the experience, you will develop skills in planning, communication, networking, teamwork, initiative, public speaking, and event management, while also contributing to the wider school community.
CAS strands: Creativity & Service

Audience: Years 10–13
Student responsibilities: Speaker research and selection, invitation and communication, event planning, promotion, moderation, and reflection.
