The OIS-Kêlê exchange project is a new legacy project working with Associação Kêlê in São Tomé e Príncipe. Members of the OIS community saw the needs of the Associação, the opportunities for us to do authentic service, and the mutual benefits of being a part of the project.
This project gives you a range of opportunities in creativity and service, as we embark on a year-long program to exchange cultural ideas and work with the students there to learn English. We begin in Term 1, planning and preparing interactive on-line and asynchronous activities throughout the year, culminating in a week-long face to face interchange in June.
OUR GOALS INCLUDE:
- Positive engage in a creative service project that is meaningful and long-lasting.
- Continuing an intercultural experience to encourage cross-cultural understandings through the exchange of ideas, values, customs and traditions
- Building on a lasting relationship between OIS and Kêlê students in São Tomé
- Developing your leadership skills
- Developing effective time-management skills
